A few friends want to get into streaming, it's a lot of fun and has opened up a lot of doors for me! Through Twitch I've created a DJ page so I can DJ live on stream and anyone can tune in and watch it. To get to the DJ Biggz streaming page click here - DJ BIGGZ STREAMING PAGE.
I've also been able to build a community for the Team FunkShop family, we go live every night and catch up. It's kinda like our social world where we don't have to meet at a bar or a public place and we catch up on what's going on in our lives. If you're interested in checking that out click here - FUNKSHOP TV ON TWITCH. Now, on to the fun stuff. If you want to become a streamer there are a few things you need. You'll need a computer. I use a few different ones but if you've already got a decent computer chances are you're on your way to having what you need to go live. Many monitors and laptops have built-in cameras, but I definitely suggest using an external camera because they're more stable and they're going to work better when you're live and give you fewer issues. The top choices for cameras I'd suggest are: Logitech C920x Don't settle for the built-in webcam on your PC. At best, it provides mediocre audio and video quality, which just won't do if you're trying to make a strong impression in a professional Skype call or if you're utilizing Streamlabs (we'll talk about that later) to become an online broadcaster. Logitech's HD Pro Webcam C920 offers 1080p resolution and stereo sound at a very affordable price. Currently the Logitech C920x is about 70.00 on Amazon - click here to get details and get your own. Features: Full HD 1080p video calling and recording at 30 fps - You'll make a strong impression when it counts with crisp, clearly detailed and vibrantly colored video. Stereo audio with dual mics - now I wouldn't suggest relying on the built-in microphones, but if you're on a budget you can use this to get started and add a mic later. The Logitech C920x captures natural sound on calls and recorded videos. Advanced capture software - Create and share video content easily with Logitech Capture. HD lighting adjustment and autofocus - The C920x automatically fine-tunes to the lighting conditions to produce bright, razor-sharp images even if you're in a low-light setting. XSplit VCam - Remove, replace and blur your background without a Green Screen. 3-month XSplit VCam license Get a Logitech C920x on Amazon by clicking HERE Logitech C922 This is the camera I personally use the most. I like it because it's got specific features. It shares the same sensor and hardware as the C920, but the firmware difference gives it 60 fps at 720p resolution, and it works better in low light conditions than the Logitech C920. It is a bit more expensive than the C920 and C920x, but to me it's worth the investment. It's a fantastic camera, has a 4k image sensor, high dynamic range (Hdr), and autofocus deliver beautiful true to live video. It looks great in any light - right light 3 automatically adjusts exposure and contract to compensate for glare and backlighting. Supports multiple connection types, including USB 2.0 type A and USB 3.0 type A and type C connections. The Logitech Brio allows for 4K streaming and recording windows: Works with camera for windows 10, XSplit, OBS. For MAC it works with Swift Capture. The BRIO is also Windows hello certified - powered by both optical and infrared sensors, BRIO delivers fast and secure facial recognition for Windows hello. No need to type a password for Windows 10: Simply look into BRIO's lens to login. The BRIO is also great because it features HD 5X zoom - digitally zoom, pan and choose from three field of view options while maintaining HD resolution. Finally the Logitech BRIO is Enterprise-ready meaning it's certified for Skype For Business and Cisco, and compatible with popular video meeting apps including Zoom, WebEx, Blue Jeans, Facebook Messenger and more. And it's a wonderful camera to use with Streamlabs as well. NOW on to the MICROPHONES. I personally use a Mackie ProFX12 USB audio mixer because I need to be able to control multiple audio devices such as turntable mixer, numerous microphones and the audio from the computer that I'm streaming from for sound effects and other applications for audio such as Pretzel Rocks - the music player I use when I'm streaming that offers royalty-free and YouTube safe music tracks for background music. To get Pretzel Rocks and learn more information CLICK HERE My personal favorite - the Shure MV7. The MV7 is a fantastic sounding microphone with quality that people would expect from Shure but at an affordable price. One of the many reasons I like it is because it's both USB and XLR compatible, so you can use it as a USB microphone as well as plug it into a mixer board like the MackieProFX12 that I use. Now if you're JUST getting started of course you can set up your own Twitch account and stream from your laptop with the build in camera and microphone, but I highly suggest upgrading your camera and microphone when you can. There are also some great starter kits I will drop below. Starter Kits: MAONO Podcast Equipment Bundle. This is great for learning the basics of setting up your audio and getting started with some cool features, but definitely entry level as far as quality is concerned. Podcast Equipment Bundle. A very affordable starter kit, but again I wouldn't suggest using this long-term. Good for starting and learning, but I personally wouldn't trust it to last that long and have better than sub-par sound from the microphone. Now if you want a bundle that is ready to plug and play in your computer, records audio within, has sound effect buttons, microphones and headphones for four people and built by a quality company that's made to last consider the RODECaster Pro II. If I was starting over with my set I would strongly consider this package because I know it will last for years, it's designed by a company that focuses on content creation and quality, and will do everything I need it to do so I can focus on the content of the podcast or vlog. Check out the RODECaster Pro II Audo Production Bundle Here Thanks for taking the time to read through this article and please leave a comment with your own thoughts and preferences below!
